Our 1970 Plymouth Superbird advice on turning 40
Reflections On Turning 40
My conversation with our 1970 Plymouth Superbird.
Ironically enough all our classic cars are generally my age,
so I asked Our bird for advice on turning “ 40.”
Sitting down next to the bird, I asked,” What have you
learned in your 41 years?”
After some Reflection the Bird answered, “ I’ve learned
there is always a second chance, I was left for dead in a junk yard after being
wreaked and my memory was gone from the
event. I spent the next few years being passed around and forgotten one owner
to the next. I learned about hope and disappointment. Then Kevin came and took me home and stated
putting everything back into place, it was sometimes painful but it was also invigorating
when my wing was put back on and my face was put back to its original splendor.
I started to feel hope for the future all the pain started to fade away. I was
able to remember my youth and the great times I had standing out in a crowd and
being the best dressed most amazing Car on the road. “
“The Day you took me to the body shop I was so excited, finally
I was going to get dressed in the most beautiful paint and all my accents and
details would be restored to their shiny best. Your friend Tom was so patient
with me, he got frustrated sometimes and had to take a break, but with you and
Kevin helping you all got me back to being the stunner I am. When you put me back together for the last time
it was like getting ready for a new life and second chance. It felt so wonderful to be whole again.”
“ I’ll never forget that first show Kevin took me to, when
that woman ran into the trailer and just missed my bumper. I was so angry I had waited so long to be
made whole again and that Toyota was so embarrassed, I felt bad it was not his
fault, and I was ok so I had to forgive, I won’t forget however. At the show I
was reminded of how nice it was to be loved, I had finally found a home and a
family to love me.”
“Thank you For all the shows and Drives you take me on I
always have so much fun in the last few years I’ve made so many new friends and
enjoyed all the cruises so much I love to drive and show off my new paint . It’s
been 6 years since you and Kevin gave me a second chance, I feel like a new car
but I have the wisdom of an old car. My advice to you on turning 40, is to
enjoy everyday be thankful for love and never take life for granted you never
know what will happen next, and never lose hope in tomorrow.”
“By the way I’ve been wanting to ask, what is with the wings
on those little import cars? What are they trying to prove? The youth of today
is so funny.”
Winning Peoples Choice at Las Vegas was Wonderful. When you put me together for a fit test before going to the body shop for paint.
Tom was great he worked so hard to get my paint just right.
This is a pick from when Kevin Was putting all my parts back on.
My fresh and awesome 440 six pack, Its so nice to breath clearly and feel my heart race with power.
.My first Show after being made whole agian Thank you Kevin and Joanna For making this old Mopar's Life Great!

2011 Mopar Coast Cruise Plan B
Plan B
On our Coast Cruise, we drive PCH Hwy 1, however because of all the rain we had this year a 50ft section of Hwy 1 washed away just past Bixby Bridge. So our back up route we hammered out at the last minute was Carmel Valley Road to 101 south.
(Joining us this year we had 9 Vehicles.)
This worked out well with the exception of some extra twists and turns. Everyone enjoyed the change of scenery. We stopped at San Miguel Mission for a quick photo op, (that did not work out as I planned). We had Lunch at In and Out and then hit the road heading for L.A.. We took hwy 54 for a nice change of pace, very nice if you have the time.
We got back on 101 and continued heading south. We had a near miss again this year with drivers looking at the cars and not paying attention to what they were doing, a few in our group averted disaster by being alert. We all safely, and in one piece finally landed at the Air-Tel and settled in. No problems or break downs it was a good year.
I invite the attendees of the cruise this year to comment and share your stories.
The Throttle Merchants Picnic
The clouds parted for a beautiful day in San Migel Ca. Fifteen Throttle Merchants and their familys came from far and wide for the Throttle Merchants Picnic 2011. I enjoy it when we meet in Bakersfield for the Hot Rod Reunion, but this is a more relaxed family setting. Great food, great friends and as always the topic of conversation, T.M. history and Cars. If Your a T.M. member where were you?

Mopar Coast Cruise 2008 thru 2010
The Mopar Coast Cruise in a bucket list item my wonderful boyfriend Kevin wanted to do.
We were sitting at a car show and Kevin voiced his Board-um.... "I would rather drive my car than sit here all day." And the Mopar Coast Cruise was born..
The Plan:
Cruise Route PCH Hwy 1 some of the most stunning views of the California Coast.
Starting Point Seaside Ca. (next to Monterey) Ending Point Spring Fling Mopar Show in Van Nuyes Ca.
So we started the planning stages, we pre-ran the course, timed and checked for stop options and the set the date. We also decided that I would drive our Truck towing the flat bed trailer and carrying the basics like Gas, Water, Air and Battery Power to cover any possible problems that might arise for our participants. (This has turned our to be a very good Idea.)
Our first year , April 2008 we started to panic a few weeks before the cruise thinking know one is going to show up. We had net-worked and called friends and gone to shows handed out flyer's, everything we could think of to generate interest. Nine cars joined us that year, it was amazing we had so much fun made new friends. One of Kevin's child hood friends he grew up with, and his wife joined us they were headed to the Morro Bay Show. We in truth, planned a few to many stops but that's how we learned. We polled the attendees and asked how we could improve went home with this info and planned for 2009.
2009 Cruise
I made a video and promoted it everywhere I could think of, Kevin called the president of the host car club at Spring fling, CPW Chyrsler Performance West, and asked to add a blurb about our cruise to the web site. They not only added a blurb but posted the video and sent us some flyer's. It was great,(thanks Steve!) We were really ready when the Cruise for 2009 came around, we still were nervous about how many would show..
April 2009 We pull into the parking lot and 24 cars had shown up. We were so excited!!! So we get to talking to the participants that were getting organized and waiting on us, and we quickly realized a Group cruising from Canada and Washington State, I think about ten cars had organized their trip to meet up with us... This was a Huge Complement, and come to find out the guy driving the blue superbird was a friend we met at the Vegas Mopar Show. We all had a blast stopped for lunch at Ragged Point Resort, then hit the road again.. heading for the show.. Look up the Mopar Coast cruise videos on Youtube and Vimeo for the highlights.
2010 Cruise
Regardless of the economy 10 cars joined us and we were once again joined by our Canadian friends both old and New. We kept the route the same and had lots of fun.
Saturday at the show Sandy and his friend Steve organized a afternoon cruise up one of the local mountain roads. (You will see those photos in the collection also.) I was having a blast taking photos from our car and then later from a convertible challenger. I was having a blast because normally I'm driving the chase truck not riding in the middle of the cruise. thanks Again to those of you that joined us Saturday afternoon it really ment allot to me.
We will be Hosting our 4th year in 2011 the friday before the Spring Fling Mopar Show Meeting most likely in the same spot.. at the same time. FYI it CPW 25th Anniversary and the show will be Extra Cool.
Sidenote: Invite your friends and spread the word. Seriously; two, for the last three years people have joined us from Canada and Washington I would think its not that far to drive if your a CALIFORNIA LOCAL, HELLO PEOPLE! They are Muscle Cars LETS DRIVE THEM!!!;
THANKS to All who have joined us over the years we look forward to seeing you again..
See You Next Year
